Glamorous Birthday

Last night, we celebrated Mari's dirrrrrty 30's!!! I love celebrating birthdays, especially when they're one of my girls. Not only because I love my girls to death but because we throw the best and most fun parties. It may not always involve renting out a club but one thing we've always done was create a theme for the celebration. It would be either just color schemes or decades or other random themes. Last night, the theme was "50's Glam." Polka dot dress, big curls, red lipstick, and my fake mole. Getting ready was the fun part and partying was the crazy part.

We had dinner at Switch Steakhouse in Encore. Food was great and the ambiance was amazing. The walls of the restaurant and music literally switched every 20 minutes. It felt like I was in 4 different restaurants in one sitting. The party continued at XS with a table next to Three Six Mafia and 2 bottles of Patron and a bottle of Goose. Finished all bottles like they were water and danced all night 'til I wanted to throw my red pumps in the fkn pool. The night was FUNtastic!

HAPPPPPY BIRTHDAYYY MARI!!!

randomness at its best

It's crazy how randomness can change your boring mundane day into a crazy unexpected event!! On this random Tuesday, us roomies and some friends coincidentally had the day off and decided to spend the day together. Our motto: "we LOVE days off." And we believe all days off should have some randomness in it!

It started at noon. We had a brunch filled with homemade french toast, longinisa, garlic fried rice, eggs & tomatoes, and a triple chocolate thin mint crumble cake.

Then...

1 VMA show,
1 community can of warm buttered-peppered-sugared corn,
Pickled mango and cheese pieces,
A few VODKA & MALIBU shots,
3 full movies: "Twilight", "Bride Wars", & "Nick & Nora's Playlist",
A pan of pasta & garlic bread,
A nail art session,
1 community bowl of patis, rice & tomato,
A short homework assignment,
2 scoops of Benefiber,
2 "Entourage" episodes,
2 "Rehab" episodes,
Homemade pork chops & rice,
And 12 hours...

Later...

We were impersonating Lady Gaga from the VMAs... literally rolling on the ground laughing our tears out. HI-FKN-LARIOUS!

As requested from our friends back in Hawaii who will be getting married in a few weeks, we ended the night with a homemade video of "I Gotta Feelin" featuring Derrick, Gail, Jae, Laurie, and Lady Gaga. Making this video was FUNNY beyond all levels! Oh, I love us!

'Twas a fun-filled day indoors!! This was exactly what I needed after this past weekend. It couldn't have been anymore fun and random than this!!

Instead of going to Rock the Bells this year... I rocked Vegas with visitors this weekend.

Thursday: My brother and his girlfriend flew in. I was excited. My brother, Glenn, who is in fact 7 years younger than I am, and I are like close friends. We tell each other everything. So having him at the house made me feel closer to home.

Gina also arrived today. Went to Revolution Lounge again to get our groove on. The key to having multiple visitors is to coordinate to be at the same place kinda like killing two birds with one stone.

Friday: Nessa and the Bay Area Homies arrive. Had dinner with the girls at Island Sushi. OMG. They have the best garlic chicken in Las Vegas. The closest thing to Mitsuken in Hawaii. yummmy.

Prefunked at home. Then killed a flask and danced all night at Tao at the Venetian. Ghetto much? Hey we're in a recession here!

Saturday: Wet Republic. Warm weather. Cool pool. Small bikinis. Hot bodies. Miami Vices. Kobe Bryants. Drunk laughs.

Later than night, went to XS still extremely tired from the pool but always fun regardless.
And believe it or not. One thing in common we have in this pic..."brothers and sisters!!"

Sunday: Gina and Nessa left back to the Bay early that morning. Went to work without a hangover thank gawd! That night, I finally got to hang out with the Boys .... at XS Night Pool Party.

Monday: After work, Glenn, his girlfriend, Jae, Ej, and I tried "Joe's Crab Shack." I attacked a spicy crab bucket with my bare hands. It killed a huge pot of Dungeness Crab, Alaskan Crab, shrimp, corn on a cob, potatoes, and a whole sausage. It was so good!! But beware, my brother and his girlfriend tried the Joe's Crab Shack in the Bay and was really disappointed so I suggest to have it here in Vegas instead. And to think, we're farther away from the ocean. Hah!

Tuesday: Brother's last day. Did a lot of walking and site seeing on the strip and in Downtown. Living in Vegas and going to the strip is rare. It still amazes me. The lights, the water shows, and the crazy and carefree vibe.

Phew! It was a FUN, crazy, looooong weekend. One thing about Vegas is that everyday can be considered a weekend!! But he great thing about Vegas... being able to see your long distance friends and family without taking a plane!

On Saturday, we dressed up in our 80's fits for JENAH's Bday Party! I love themed parties because it makes parties waaaay more FUN! The turn out for people dressing up was outstanding! Drinks, food, music, and good friends... it s was Bitchin'!
Happy Birthday Jenah!! xoxo

So my homegirls, Janet (aka Antonio) and Abi (aka SF Blood Mary), had their annual Vegas vacation on the very same weekend and it turned out to be one FUN fiasco! It seemed like I, myself, had a vacation as well!

Day 1: Abi & I chilled at Revolution Lounge for my homie Tnes' event! I loved the music that was provided by none other than female only DJs! Loved it! C'mon where else on the Vegas strip can you hear 80's-90's hip hop and r&b in a lounge and don't got to worry about dress code?! Plus they sell bottles of 40s at the bar! haha. And trust me, as ghetto as it sounds, it is faaaaar from that because with Jet Club only steps away, you'll find a lot of dressed up party goers stopping bay for the fun as well!

Day 2: Bare Pool ... this small intimate pool party name speaks for itself!! Not to mention their caesar salad and salsa & chips are super gooood! Their summer lemonade was yummy and refreshing too!!

XS, our favorite club right now, never fails! VIP table hopped with New Yorkers or Canadians! And danced the whooooole entire night!!!

Day 3: Wet Republic Pool Party! One word: Crazy!

Jet for more VIP area dancing! Then Cafe Moda for thee best sisig in Vegas!

Day 4: Serendipity! Their famous frozen hot chocolate is just as good as their food! I was shocked!

Vacation always ends with sushi and sake at Ra Sushi. 20+ bottles of mango or melon flavored sake!!!

Awesome mini vakay with good food, good friends, and good fun!!
